As of March 10, 2025, the UK government mandates t As of March 10, 2025, the UK government mandates that all rental properties achieve a minimum Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of Band C by 2030. This initiative aims to enhance energy efficiency and reduce fuel poverty across the housing sector. The Labour government has reinstated these plans, initially proposed by the previous administration, to improve energy efficiency in rental properties. The original deadlines have been extended, with the new target set for 2030.  To meet the 2030 target, it is estimated that approximately 340,000 rental homes will need to upgrade annually to achieve at least an EPC rating of C. Currently, over half of rental properties have reached this standard. However, some landlords face challenges due to the costs associated with these improvements, with expenses varying based on property characteristics.  The government plans to consult on boosting minimum energy efficiency standards for all renters by 2030. This consultation is expected to address assessment procedures, exemptions, spending caps for improvements, and potential financial support.  These measures are part of a broader strategy to improve housing quality and reduce carbon emissions, aligning with the UK’s environmental goals. Has your rental property reach the C band?
